So if you want one, you had better move quickly. WFRP2 Out Now! Yes, the long awaited second edition of WFRP is now out. For more information check out Black Industries. March 21st Liber Fanatica During the last twenty years, quite a bit of fan support has appeared for WFRP1, in the form of adventures, settings, careers, optional rules, and so on - up to complete epic campaigns, and monographs on special subjects (Bretonnia, life at sea, and so on). These materials were often of high quality and well appreciated. This tradition will continue. When the playtests for the new game ended, a number of playtesters had ideas for writing material to support the game. A few of them joined forces and set out to develop their ideas and deliver it to the WFRP community for free, in return for all the stuff that that community has given them. Under the name of Liber Fanatica, two PDFs will be offered for free download from March 29. Some things you can expect in the books:- Variants for chargen - Tips for roleplaying the character - A conversion guide to get characters from WFRP1 to WFRP2 - Conversion of WFRP1 magic spells (from the main book and from RoS) to WFRP2 - Old careers that haven't appeared in WFRP2, are converted for the new game as well - Some additional rules to make magic more flexible and dangerous - A way to get the stress more on narration in combat To give you an idea, here are the covers: http://homepage.mac.com/whymme/ptguild/LF_I_cover.jpg http://homepage.mac.com/whymme/ptguild/LF_II_cover.jpg and the contents pages: http://homepage.mac.com/whymme/ptguild/LF_I_contents.pdf http://homepage.mac.com/whymme/ptguild/LF_II_contents.pdf March 3rd Flagship 112 The latest issue of Flagship is out now. Tim Eccles reclines respendent in the chi-chi lounge bar of the Snodgrass Hotel in Knightsbridge. He flicks back an errant dark lock while absently fingering his Chateau Briand. He looks plaintively at me, somehow finding the patience to indulge my petty, ignorant questions. A man of such greatness shouldn't have to 'face the press' but he does so, and with amazing good grace. Warpstone Charity Auction
The e-bay auction for Warpstone issue 23 proofs were sold for £63.50 (inc. postage). This amount has been donated to the disaster appeal fund. Many thanks to the winner for his generosity. Bretonnia Project
Check out the Bretonnia-Project. It focuses on non-arthurian background for WFRP in keeping with the description in the original WFRP rulebook. It is a dark swashbuckling setting based on renaissance France. After some time in hibernation, we have decided to launch new websites in 2005. Since the release of the free Bretonnia-Sourcebook in 2003, we been working mainly on play-aids and a collection of inspiration material for Bretonnia-Sourcebook. Bretonnia-Project is a reasonably active Internet project, which is open to contributions. We currently also run occasionnal one-off wfrp-bretonnia games in Newcastle, UK. This scenario by Paul “Wiggy” Wade-Williams is the first of two sequels to “The Missing Children of Regensdorf”, which first appeared in Warpstone issue 8 and then in Corrupting Influence: The Best Of Warpstone Volume One. Many thanks to Wiggy for allowing Warpstone to publish this on our website. Go to the scenarios section. August 26th Black Library Press Release Go here for the latest Black Library press release. Critical Hit Forums Close The news that Critical Hit forums, centre of the WFRP community for many, had closed. The message on the site stated; "It is my sad duty to inform everyone that the Critical Hit Forums have been closed. The major factor in this decision has been the increasing amount of time it takes to administrate it, time which we cannot now afford. We have tried to give the best support possible to Warhammer Fantasy Role-play, Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 but feel we have taken the CH forums as far as they can go. Certainly there are no shortage of forums dedicated to these games. We'd like to thank all those members, especially the hardworking moberators, who have given us their support and have been dedicated to the forums for so many years." It is a sad loss and thanks go to Andrew for all the hard work he has done over the years. The Critical Hit site is still up and running with plenty of good Warhammer material. tOoTW The latest issue of Tim Eccles' The Origin of Tree Worship fanzine is now out. Issue 7 contains articles on the Old Faith (by Alfred Nunez), character generation ideas for a new WFRP edition (by Robin Low), apothecaries (by the Dark Knight), a review of the new WFB Bretonnia army book (by Clive Oldfield) and thoughts on Language in WFRP and Ice Wizardry by Tim. Price is £2.00 by cheque to the UK, £2.50 via Paypal to the UK, £2.75 to the EU and £3.50 to the US and RoW. Full details at http://www.shadow-warriors.co.uk. Warpstone Questionnaire II Back in issue 19, we asked you for your thoughts on Warpstone. Many thanks for all those who took the time to respond. It is much appreciated. Particular Apologies for the time it has taken to publish the replies. Here is a summary of those replies. Das Geheimnis der Krähe A treat for all those of you who can read German. A Karl-Heinz Zapf scenario is now available for download in the scenarios section. Let us know what you think. Grovod Forest We are pleased to announce the addition of Alfred Nunez's convention scenario to the scenarios section. Let us know what you think, too. Dragonlords We thought that some Warpstone readers may be interested in playing Dragonlords. Based to some degree on the Warhammer world, it is an Internet based strategy game and is free to play. Here's what the Game Moderator said about it. Welcome to Kharne, a world modelled closely after Warhammer and Tolkien's Middle Earth, when mighty Kings ruled by fire and sword. Send forth thy regiments of soldiers, or even legendary beasts to conquer thy empire. This is a play-by-email strategy game, where each player rules an Orcish Tribe, Elven Lordship. Dwarven Clan or one of many other Players of strategic games such as Diplomacy, Axis&Allies and Risk will also find many familiar elements in the game. There is a detailed player program that depicts the forces of all realms as miniatures on a giant game board. To stay on your throne, you will need to use well-planned tactics, clever scheming, and ruthless determination. It is completely free to play, and new games begin regularly. We have a community of over 200 active players, and positions are open for both new blood and veterans. Everyone is welcome to sign up for a game at: http://www.lordsofconquest.com/dragon. Hope to see you on the battlefield! Here is why it is similar to Warhammer Dragonlords has been strongly influenced by the Warhammer universe, and inspired use to create a gritty, dark world of incessant warfare. The races on the map board are similar to those of Warhammer, such as the Border Princes (similar to the Empire), Dwarves, Orcs, and so forth. The trooptypes include creatures such as fearsome Swamp Trolls, Siege Giants, and many types of Dragons. The game allows a great deal of depth in role-playing. Here, you forge alliances, wage war and perhaps engage in the politics of the knife as well. Thus, rather than an adventure party, or general, each player takes the role of a King or Emperor. If you have ever desired to actual conquer the realms of Warhammer, rather than fight individual battles, then this game is worth a closer look - after all, its free! - Andrew, Game Moderator April 4th TimCon - Only a week to go. The first all WFRP con for many years is taking place next week and there are still a few places left. It is being held on day Saturday in London. It would be great to see a few of you there. Details available here. Warpstone now accepts Euro cheques. More details on the ordering page. March 22nd Legion 4 - Issue 4 of our occasional
newsletter is now available (and you can get a copy in PDF format here).
The centre-piece is an article by Steve Gerke on using some of Games Workshop's
Chaos baddies. Tim Eccles released the full and final details of TimCon 01, available here. March 9th Issue 21 Out Now - All subscribers
should now all have received their copy of issue 21. If you haven't then drop
me a line and let me know. Issue 21 is also available in shops world-wide - although
some may have difficulty finding. February 16th Warpstone is very pleased to announce that Critical_Hit have started up a dedicated Warpstone_forum. Many thanks to Andrew at Critial Hit for this.
