TimCon II
Details of TimCon 1 can be found here. Please note that we are now full!
Background TimCon II is a second "mini-convention" for WFRP players by WFRP players. We held the first TimCon event on the 10th April 2004, and it was so successful that we are repeating it! The formula is simply a bunch of WFRP mates meeting up to play and talk WFRP. After Dragonmeet 2003 (and GenCon, and DM 2002...), a number of us who had met up, played, gone down the pub etc remarked how silly it was that we waited for a Con to meet up and spend about £7 to get in just for the privilege of talking to each other and playing the games that we wrote. With this in mind, I began thinking of the possibility of running a 'meet-up' cum Con for a group of WFRP friends, run at a smaller venue with a fee only as necessary to cover hire costs. Hence TimCon01 - and now TimCon II. Details TimCon II is to be held on Saturday October 23rd. The idea is to operate a full day event here at the Northfields Community Centre where my club, Shadow Warriors, play. The day will run 10-7. We operate in two basic slots with a lunch break. There will be two sessions of games, written and run by attendees. Everyone who attends will play in two pre-selected games, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Everyone who wishes to come needs to pre-book with me. This will ensure that we have enough games for everyone to play, not too many games so that GMs prepare games that will not run, we have enough room (and not too much) and everything that can be planned is, so that I am not running around all day trying to manage ad hoc problems that could have been avoided. The cost covers the room hire and the cost of a Con fanzine that I am producing as a souvenir and WFRP fanzine. The Con costs £4. If you are in the UK and can pay by cheque then I would much prefer this. Paypal payments go to timothyeccles@yahoo.co.uk As I explain above, you must pre-pay and pre-book to ensure that everyone has two games and we do not prepare too many or too few games. Everyone who comes and books by 1st October will be listed in the fanzine as a delegate. Eternal fame awaits you! Cheques should be sent to me at: Tim Eccles, TimCon II Proposed Games The following games are currently scheduled to run. Unless otherwise stated the intention is to run each game with 5 players. Kill Wilhelm The last time you saw Wilhelm he was riding off into the sunset on a cart filled with Gold Crowns. That hurt. The fact that before he left he betrayed you to a group of Kislevian slavers hurt even more. That was five years ago, five hard years in which you've fought for your freedom, seen the worst pits and hives of villainy this world has to offer and learnt about pain and revenge from the masters. Now it's time to have a little revenge of your own. Wilhelm's a gang leader now, with a small town under his thumb and an army of bodyguards, all bought with your money. He must be feeling pretty safe. Bad mistake, it's about time you tore apart everything your old comrade has built up and take a bloody revenge on your betrayer. A loose take on a popular, violent film that has been doing the rounds recently. High powered, cinematic style but with plenty of room for character based roleplaying. You're going to have to make some tough choices if you're going to take down Wilhelm and his goons. Gobbo! "Men of Stirland, stop your dreaming, Casting call! You can't have a scenario about "Gobbos! Fousands of 'em!" without the aforementioned fousands, er, thousands. So I'm asking for everyone who can to bring in some miniature green 'extras' for the scenario and for some Con photos. Orcs, goblins, squigs, GW or not, it's all good. Contributors get a beer in thanks. Unfinished Symphony Igor played the violin and the sounds seemed to make shapes in the air. He wasn't much of a musician usually, but this he played perfectly, seemingly inspired by the old, tatty instrument. In between the notes you saw fire catch velvet curtains. People screamed and panicked. Heavy smoke filled the air. The orchestra ran, fighting each other to reach the exits. You could almost smell the burning hair and melting faces. In the distance you recognised the towers of the Imperial Palace. Igor dropped the violin to the ground, exhausted, and the vision was gone, You all silently agreed, you needed to go to Altdorf. The Ambassador's Party The Bretonnian Ambassador always throws the finest parties. Bedecked in Lustrian gems and Cathayan silk he is the talk of Paleisbuurt. He certainly spoils his guests with the finest Tilean chocolates, too. Who knows what goes on beneath his mask of powder and rouge. Something nefarious, because this is WFRP Carroburg Blues Carroburg is a sleepy town, the soft underbelly of The Empire your great grandfather used to say (but then he was a Bretonnian). Your job in the künstlerichpolitzist pretty much typifies the place - you are a private watch service protecting the monuments and shrines in the town. It is easy money plus you get a few bribes to look the other way occasionally. Or at least that used to be the case. Talk has it that things are going to pot. It all started with a couple of murders and now the rat catchers claim that someone (or something) has it in for them, some councillor (with an eye to the next election) is demanding protection for them, new cults are springing up, guild intrigue is turning nasty, and the Elector for Middenland has suddenly taken an interest and sacked the Meister his father had appointed to run the Council (although he was a dotty old Cathayan who no-one ever trusted). Oh yes, and a statue to Alazari, patron of the dyers, has just gone missing. You have three hours to find it or you will probably end up missing too! The Heart of True Heroes It is the night the Summer Solstice and the night before your beloved cousin Helene's wedding. The quiet family dinner held by your uncle Frederick was excellent. Everything is quiet now all but ten of the servants have been dismissed. Frederick has taken you and your other male cousins for drinks at the private jetty. Suddenly, and unexpectedly it is dark, a shadow passing across the sun. It passes but you feel chilled to your bones at this ominous omen. Suddenly there is a piercing scream from the house and flames licking at the window, Helene's window. With your kin you are racing to the house... Jolly Decent Fellows As the nobility of the Empire, you embody everything that is right about Imperial society. It is your privilege and duty to lead the commoners by your example as gentlemen. However, as second sons it is also your duty to scrape for influence and power wherever you can find it. Fortunately you're about to be initiated into the Order of the Stone Serpent - an influential society of nobles who meet in Altdorf to direct world events. You've heard *dreadful* things about the initiation ceremony. Good job your faithful manservants are there to help patch you up afterwards. The Fen Beast of Farard Summer has been good and your sept is now richer by many cattle. The druids say the new star in the sky is a good omen. For the first time in memory, your Teutognen neighbours and enemies have come to pay tribute to your Chieftain. However, not all omens are good, and the PCs are chosen by the gods to defeat an ancient enemy. Please note that we are now full!
